Accounting Trainee

The Vertus Group, a division within Constellation Software, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Trainee to join its finance team at Contour. This paid, three-month trainee program provides hands-on experience working alongside senior finance professionals, offering exposure to business unit and corporate financial statement processes. The role is designed to help trainees apply their accounting knowledge, contribute to process improvements, and learn industry-standard accounting practices. Successful candidates will have a clear path to full-time employment.

Key Responsibilities
- Record income and expense transactions and support daily bookkeeping activities.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations using Microsoft Dynamics GP and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations for North American businesses within The Vertus Group.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in posting journal entries related to corporate allocations.
- Record employee Client Cardholder expense transactions.
- Support ad hoc projects and compile data from various sources.
- Run regular control reports to ensure journal entries are accurate and complete.

Required Qualifications
- Finalist or part-qualified in a professional accounting designation such as ACCA, ICMAP, or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable fundamentals.
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- Strong data entry skills with a natural aptitude for numbers.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP or Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
