Spreetail is a fast-growing ecommerce company focused on helping brands expand their global market presence while optimizing operational costs. We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to oversee day-to-day finance operations for Spreetail UK and Germany. This role involves full ownership of the accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, supplier payments, reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities. The successful candidate will work with systems such as Xero, Datev, Linnworks, and Dext, collaborating closely with merchants, suppliers, and account managers to ensure accurate financial records and maintain a healthy cash position.
Key Responsibilities
Manage shared Accounts Payable inboxes for Spreetail UK and Germany, efficiently triaging supplier invoices and resolving finance-related queries. Match inventory and freight invoices against purchase orders, rate cards, and Linnworks data, investigating and resolving any discrepancies. Process and upload AP and sales invoices into Xero and Datev, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with audit requirements. Reconcile AP ledgers, bank payments, supplier statements, cashflow trackers, Xero, and Profit & Loss accounts to maintain complete and accurate records. Support month-end close and audit processes by validating invoice records, preparing AP approval reports, maintaining cashflow accuracy, and providing necessary documentation.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in an accounts payable or finance operations role, preferably within ecommerce, logistics, or multi-entity environments. Hands-on experience with Xero accounting software is essential; familiarity with Datev or Dext is advantageous. Strong proficiency with spreadsheets and confidence in maintaining and updating cashflow trackers is required. Excellent reconciliation skills with a keen eye for detail to identify and resolve discrepancies proactively. Ability to work across two entities (UK and Germany) with differing compliance and regulatory requirements. Clear and professional communication skills to interact effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams. Self-motivated and capable of managing a busy inbox and multiple workstreams independently without close supervision.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
This is a remote position requiring a reliable work-from-home setup. Candidates must provide their own desktop or laptop with at least a 4th generation Intel i3 (or equivalent) processor, minimum 4GB RAM, Windows 10 or macOS operating system, and dual monitors. A strong and stable internet connection (DSL, cable, or fiber with at least 10 Mbps speed) is essential. A PC headset and a high-definition (720p or higher) external or integrated webcam are required for communication. Spreetail prioritizes candidate safety and fraud prevention; all official communications will come only from the spreetail.com domain or the Lever platform.
