Nutrition Program Officer

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

Action Against Hunger is a leading organization globally focused on eradication of hunger and malnutrition. Action Against Hunger is seeking a Nutrition Officer for an anticipated project to be based in Islamabad.

The position will work under the guidance of Sr. Health and Nutrition Coordinator. The position will support health and nutrition department in performing its functions on day to day basis. This position is expected to spend 50% of its time in the field.  Where the staff member will visit the facilities managed by partners and ensure that the project is run in letter and spirit as per agreed standards. This position will also support country and provincial level planning with regards to project interventions.

OBJECTIVES

Objective 1

To support Health and Nutrition Department in smooth functioning through support in planning and documentation.

Tasks & responsibilities

·         To provide support in planning for Health and Nutrition interventions under PINS program.

·         To support the roll out of health and nutrition programs at field level though participation in training of partners and government departments.

·         To support in development of concepts and proposals as required by performing contextual analysis, secondary data analysis and compilation on findings of researches.

·         To provide support in maintains regular communications with Nutrition Task Force P&D Sindh, Department of Health Sindh, LHW Sindh, Partners of EU PINS and EU teams to maintain a steady flow of information.  

·         To conduct field visits and document program progress. 

·         TO support Sr. H&N Coordinator and field teams in organizing of events at national and provincial level.

·         Ensure interdepartmental harmony and share relevant information to both programs and support functions in the most efficient manner.

·         To support Sr. H&N Coordinator in day to day management of tasks.

Objective 2

To provide support technical reports (internal and external) and proposals reflective of government, organization and donor guidelines and ensure timely submission to line management.

Tasks & responsibilities

·         To support in preparation of weekly/biweekly updates, monthly and quarterly, bi annual and annual report and submit on timely manner to the concerned department.

·         Actively maintains record of correspondence with the government line agencies.

·         To ensure that Annual Progress Reports are properly generated as due.   

·         Work closely with MEAL team to ensure regular and timely monitoring and reporting of health and nutrition data.

·         To ensure that program related data is archived by Partners in most efficient way as per the standards defined by compliance department.

Objective 3

To support active supply chain of nutrition related supplies

Tasks & responsibilities

·         To support and raise PRs as per procurement plan

·         To support in preparation of documentation of transfer of shipments and maintain both soft and hard record of supplies shipped to partners.

·         To support in filed visits to and from capital to the field for Action Against Hunger and government staff member.

Objective 4 (Gender)

To ensure inclusion across departmental functions and within/by the team

·          Support mission level qualification for gender marker;

·          Encourage inclusion within recruitment, training and promotion;

·          Ensure inclusion within departmental planning, implementation and reporting;

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

·         Master's Degree in relevant field Minimum 04 years of overall experience and 02 years in relevant field in development sector OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field with minimum 06 years overall expereince with 04 years in relevant field in development sector

·         Good written and verbal communication in English;

·         Good interpersonal skills

·         Degree in Public Health, Human Nutrition, MBBS or relevant degree.

·         Good resource and time management skills

·         Ability to work in a complex structure across partnerships

·         Ability to work independently and with self-motivation

·         Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel required

·         Willingness to travel frequently

Preference

·         Experience in social reviews of wider organizational approaches

·         Previous experience working in Sindh

·         Experience within a large national or international organization;

·         Experience working in development projects

·         Experience managing partners/consortiums

·         Experience working on nutrition programs
