Assignment:

The Forestry and Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Specialist will provide technical leadership in the planning, design, and implementation of forestry and ecosystem-based interventions, with a strong focus on community forestry, afforestation, mangrove restoration, and saline and coastal ecosystems. The Specialist will facilitate the integration of nature-based solutions into community-based resilience and restoration programs, ensuring that interventions are environmentally sound, socially inclusive, and responsive to local livelihoods. Drawing on experience with development partners, civil society organizations, or similar institutions, the role will support the adoption of best practices in ecosystem restoration and sustainable resource management.

The Specialist will work closely with community groups, implementing partners, and technical teams to promote stewardship agreements, strengthen community ownership, and enhance the long-term sustainability of forestry and NbS interventions. Responsibilities will include providing technical guidance on afforestation and mangrove schemes, supporting participatory planning processes, and integrating NbS approaches into broader community-based resilience programs. The role will also contribute to quality assurance of technical outputs, documentation, and reporting, ensuring consistency with agreed standards, project objectives, and good international practice.
