A premier Non- Government Policy Think-tank institute which produces policy and knowledge to enhance the capacity and make informed policy decisions is looking for the following positions.
POSITION OBJECTIVES
The Advocacy Officer works alongside the Advocacy Coordinator in organizing the activities of the Unit. The primary focus is on organizing webinars, seminars, conferences, campaigns and liaison with Organization research programs and networking. In general, s/he assists the Advocacy Coordinator in the ongoing initiatives and acts as a resource to both Organization staff and outside partners. Also helps connect with media and digital communications platforms, social media outlets, etc.
Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Write Press Releases both in English and Urdu based on the proceedings of webinars, seminars, conferences, media events, campaigns and other activities. Write webinar/seminar reports and undertake background research on the topics of the thematic events.
- Networking with media to get press releases and other material published timely. Ability to sell a story to media and a prompt follow up with media
- Assist Advocacy Coordinator in designing, planning, and implementing advocacy strategy
- Organizing seminars, workshops, and special lectures. Undertake correspondence with speakers, press and invitees. Also handle logistics and budget support to speakers, if required
- Be the front-liner for the campaigns of the organization from time to time
- Liaise with the research teams to organize various thematic events to highlight research findings of the organization’s research through continuous pro-active communications and correspondence.
- Actively participate and represent the organization in various networks and movements to share the Organization position on various issues after in-house consultation.
- Support the process to form networks with various stakeholders such as development sector donors, NGOs, private sector, research organizations, and academic institutions to mobilize their support for Organization initiatives.
- Assist Advocacy Coordinator in recording minutes of the meetings (where required), and preparation of “Advocacy Unit” reports for various purposes.
- Keep tabs on Organization research and use the channels of advocacy to facilitate the process of lobbying for policymaking/change.
Any other job or related task as determined by the supervisor.
Education
Master’s degree in Social Sciences, preferably in Mass Communication, Political science, IR, Public Policy, etc.
English language and digital technology proficiency and computer and networking skills supportive of role will add value.
