Data Engineer

ACE Money Transfer is a UK-based company headquartered in Manchester, United Kingdom. Data Engineer

This role is responsible for the development and implementation of data warehouse solutions for company-wide application and managing large sets of structured and unstructured data. The candidate will be expected to analyze complex customer requirements and gather, define and document data transformation rules and its implementation. Data Engineer will be expected to have a broad understanding of the data acquisition and integration space and be able to weigh the pros and cons of different architectures and approaches.

Responsibility

Discover and apply cutting-edge analytical techniques, models, and tools to make important business decisions
Provide insights from data and analytical models
Write and optimize complex SQL and shell scripts
Design and develop code, scripts, and data pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data
Data ingestion pipelines and ETL processing, including low-latency data acquisition and stream processing
Design and develop processes/procedures for integration of data warehouse solutions in an operative IT environment.
Monitoring performance and advising any necessary configurations & infrastructure changes.
Presenting & documenting the complete workflow to different teams and for knowledge base.
Coordinate with stakeholders to understand their requirements
Work with project managers to scope projects and develop a work break down structures and do risk analysis.
Run experiments and develop dashboards and data visualizations to communicate results to leadership.
Staying on top of the newest technology trends relevant to strategic search fields defined by the company leadership, exploring customer problems and identifying solutions.

Skills And Qualifications

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
At least 2+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer.
Hands on experience with one or more ETL tools like Informatica, DataStage, Talend etc.
Working knowledge of the financial services domain
Good understanding of different dimensional modeling techniques such as Star vs SnowFlake Schemas.
Working experience on creating semantic and reporting mapping documents.
Good concepts/experience of designing and developing ETL architectures.
Strong RDBMS concepts and SQL development skills
Strong knowledge of data modeling and mapping
Experience with Data Integration from multiple data sources
Working experience with one or more Cloud environments like AWS, Azure or GCP along with hands-on experience with different cloud services.
Strong background in interpreting and effectively communicating information utilizing tools like Tableau or PowerBI, etc.
Good knowledge of any Big Data technologies such as Pig, Hive, Spark, Kafka, Nifi
Good understanding of transformation tools like Alteryx
Knowledge of Google BigQuery
Experience with any NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB
Experience with any of the Hadoop distributions such as Cloudera/Hortonworks
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
Ability to solve problems using a creative and logical mindset
Must be self-motivated, analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and pursue excellence in all tasks
