The Specialist in Information Security plays a critical role in ensuring information security, data protection compliance, and efficient IT operations within the organization. The incumbent would primarily be responsible for implementing industry best practices (organizational and technical measures) to ensure information security across the organization. They understand compliance requirements in general and have relevant expertise to guide and work with relevant stakeholders to run the data protection and privacy program across the organization while providing necessary support to technology users.

Major job responsibilities include:

  • Implementing industry best practices, policies, and procedures, security protocols, and technical measures to ensure information security and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Implementing organizational measures including raising awareness, compliance reviews, and gap assessments, data mapping, risk assessments, technical evaluations of IT solutions, and engaging service providers to ensure information security and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Ensuring sound business continuity from an IT perspective and implementing risk mitigation measures to effectively protect organizational data and other IT assets.
  • Advising staff on compliance with data protection laws and promoting a culture of compliance.
  • Performing risk identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks associated with technology, systems, data assets, and processing activities.
  • Facilitating planning and implementation of technology initiatives and staying updated with emerging technologies.
  • Supervising and supporting IT operations and staff to ensure the reliability and availability of technology infrastructure, systems, and services.

The ideal candidate for this role should hold a Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology and demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience within a reputable institution. Key skills include expertise in information security standards, risk and compliance management, policy development, information management, and information security gap assessment/audit.
