We are seeking a hands-on Lead AI Architect to drive the technical vision and development of our AI capabilities. This role offers the chance to lead the creation of next-generation AI-powered platforms and solutions, going beyond theoretical designs to actively prototype, build, and guide engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI architecture and engineering, with the ability to take innovative AI concepts from proof of concept to full production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the architecture and strategic roadmap for the AI platform, covering agent platforms, durable agents, enterprise context, evaluation, observability, security, and model integration.
- Design multi-agent and orchestration architectures, establishing reusable standards for communication, memory, context, identity/authorization, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Architect enterprise context solutions using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Graph RAG, semantic search, knowledge bases, and enterprise data integration.
- Develop reference architectures and assess emerging AI tools, frameworks, and technologies to keep the platform at the cutting edge.
- Maintain a hands-on approach by prototyping complex solutions and advancing proofs of concept to production-grade implementations.
- Mentor AI engineers and provide technical leadership across the team to foster growth and innovation.
- Make informed architectural decisions balancing business priorities, cost, timelines, compliance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to building and scaling the AI engineering team, including hiring and establishing best engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of software engineering experience, with at least 4 years focused on AI and large language model (LLM) engineering.
- Proven expertise in building agentic AI systems and frameworks such as LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or Orleans.
- Demonstrated ability to take AI platforms or functions from initial concept or proof of concept to production and widespread adoption.
- Experience designing systems within regulated or compliance-sensitive environments, including handling non-public information (NPI), financial data, data residency, and model/vendor sovereignty considerations.
- Strong technical leadership skills with experience mentoring engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining and defending architectural decisions to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Hands-on programming experience in Python, C#, or other modern languages, along with familiarity with Azure cloud services, distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, RAG architectures, and vector databases.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience building or scaling technical teams/functions, including hiring and defining engineering processes.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with risk, compliance, and security stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills
- Knowledge of graph databases and knowledge engineering.
- Experience with MLOps and data engineering practices.
- Familiarity with the title insurance domain is a plus.
