At Rayn, innovation and collaboration drive everything we do. Joining our team means contributing to a purpose-driven organization that leverages technology to tackle societal and public health challenges. This role is hands-on and end-to-end: you will lead each engagement from the initial client call through scoping, building, launching, and post-launch fixes. Projects are short with clear endpoints, and accountability for the quality and reliability of your work is paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop proposal engines that identify government and enterprise tenders, assess fit, and generate compliant bids.
- Build AI interviewers capable of conducting hundreds of research interviews simultaneously and distilling them into actionable insights.
- Create account research tools that aggregate data from multiple sources, enrich it, and draft personalized outreach communications.
- Design voice agents that manage real phone calls end-to-end, integrating with client CRM and internal systems.
- Develop speech models and voice applications for local languages, enabling users who cannot read to access digital services through speech.
- Build healthcare AI products embedded in clinical and administrative workflows, such as patient intake, prior authorization, and follow-up.
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their processes and document precise requirements for development.
- Identify bottlenecks by measuring the slowest steps before coding begins.
- Make informed decisions on what to build, buy, or skip, and clearly justify these choices in concise documentation.
- Deliver production-ready solutions with thorough testing for correctness, security, and cost efficiency.
- Design reusable solutions to accelerate delivery for future clients facing similar challenges, accompanied by clear documentation for seamless handovers.
- Develop internal sales tools including account research, scoring, and outreach automation.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience delivering reliable software, preferably with exposure to startups or client-facing roles.
- Proven track record of deploying at least one AI agent in production that was actively used for weeks, including experience with testing, monitoring, and cost management.
- Ability to discern when simple rule-based workflows suffice versus when a full AI agent is necessary.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, along with experience working with APIs, webhooks, and SQL databases.
- Strong understanding of safety and data governance, including protection against prompt injection, data leaks, and ensuring secure handling of client data with access controls and audit trails.
- Rigorous release management practices, including automated testing, gradual rollouts, and rollback procedures.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with customers, engineers, and product teams.
- Demonstrated initiative in starting and completing projects independently.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience building evaluation frameworks and guardrails that proactively detect and prevent AI agent failures, with a clear definition of success criteria.
- Familiarity with managing long-running, multi-step AI agent tasks, including strategies to prevent drift, loops, or loss of context.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI into healthcare workflows at an advanced level, including working with EHR systems via FHIR, HL7, NCPDP, or X12 standards, and ensuring HIPAA-compliant patient data handling.
- Background as a founder, freelancer, or early-stage startup engineer is a plus.
Hiring Process
Candidates will be asked to provide proof of work, such as a link to a deployed project along with a brief explanation of a problem they identified and resolved. A reference from a user is beneficial. Next, candidates complete a paid written exercise involving analysis of a real workflow (anonymized), identifying bottlenecks, and proposing solutions. The final stage is a 90-minute live session to discuss the written exercise and troubleshoot a malfunctioning AI agent using its logs.
This role offers a unique opportunity to build impactful AI solutions from start to finish, working closely with clients and shaping the future of technology in public health and beyond.
