Key Responsibilities:
Livestock Management
Monitor the health and well-being of dairy cows, calves, and other livestock.
Ensure timely feeding, watering, and milking schedules are maintained.
Coordinate vaccination, deworming, and veterinary care.
Maintain accurate records of breeding, calving, and milk yields.
Milk Production Oversight
Supervise the milking process to ensure hygiene, quality, and consistency.
Monitor milk output and implement strategies to increase productivity.
Ensure equipment used in milking and storage is clean, functional, and maintained regularly.
Team Supervision
Manage and schedule daily tasks for farm workers and milkers.
Train new staff in dairy handling, milking techniques, and animal welfare.
Promote a safe and productive work environment.
Farm Maintenance & Hygiene
Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of barns, sheds, and milking parlors.
Ensure proper manure disposal and pest control practices are followed.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with farm hygiene standards.
Inventory & Supplies
Monitor stock levels of feed, medicine, cleaning agents, and farm tools.
Coordinate with procurement or suppliers for timely replenishment.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare daily and weekly reports on milk production, animal health, and workforce performance.
Ensure compliance with local agricultural, environmental, and animal welfare regulations.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Diploma or degree in Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, or Veterinary Science.
3–5 years of experience in a dairy farm setting, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills:
Strong understanding of dairy cattle behavior, nutrition, and health.
Practical knowledge of milking systems (manual or automated).
Good leadership and communication skills.
Ability to use farm record-keeping systems (manual or digital).
Attributes:
Physically fit and willing to work in rural or outdoor environments.
Attention to detail and proactive problem-solving.
Responsible, punctual, and dependable.
Working Conditions:
On-site work at the farm with early morning, weekend, and holiday shifts required.
Exposure to outdoor conditions, livestock, and manual labor tasks.
