Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital is seeking a skilled and proactive Assistant Manager Quantities to support the project and contracts team in efficient cost estimation, budgeting, and quantity management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing quantity take-offs, preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), detailed rate analysis, and implementing effective cost control across multiple civil and structural projects. This role is vital in ensuring accurate cost forecasting and proper financial management throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires close coordination with various departments including project engineers, procurement, and planning to validate quantities and costs, thereby contributing significantly to the successful delivery of construction projects within budget. The Assistant Manager Quantities must possess a strong foundation in civil engineering principles, along with a minimum of ten years relevant experience in quantity surveying and cost estimation. This role demands expertise in construction materials, market and schedule rates, and proficiency in essential software tools such as MS Excel, AutoCAD, and estimation software. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent documentation and communication abilities are critical to performing the responsibilities effectively. Although this position does not include team management responsibilities, it plays a central role in liaising with contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate billing, certification, and reporting throughout the project phases.
Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), quantity take-offs, and cost estimates for tendering and project execution phases to ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets by performing detailed rate analysis and cost planning aligned with project requirements.
  • Verify quantities submitted by contractors and subcontractors for billing and certification purposes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
  • Evaluate tender documents, drawings, and project specifications thoroughly to produce reliable cost forecasts and identify potential cost risks or savings opportunities.
  • Support the preparation and negotiation of variations, claims, and change orders in coordination with project management and contractual teams.
  • Maintain and regularly update cost databases, current market rates, and comprehensive quantity records to support precise estimation and budgeting activities.
  • Coordinate effectively with project engineers, procurement departments, and planning teams to validate quantities and related cost aspects, fostering a collaborative project environment.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic cost and progress reports to management, highlighting project financial status, cost variances, and forecasting insights for informed decision-making.
  • Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Project Director, contributing to overall project success and adherence to quality standards.
