Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager Procurement (Medical) to drive strategic sourcing and procurement of medical commodities and electro-medical equipment. This leadership position requires managing a dedicated team of three professionals and overseeing the entire procurement lifecycle to ensure timely supply and optimal inventory management. The role is critical in supporting the hospital's mission to provide exceptional patient care by maintaining a seamless supply chain and rigorous compliance with health and safety standards. The Senior Manager leads vendor negotiations, cost management, and contract administration while collaborating with cross-functional teams such as warehouse management and clinical departments. With a focus on reducing costs and managing risks, this role demands at least ten years of procurement experience in the healthcare or eye care industry. Candidates should possess strong expertise in supplier relationship management, regulatory compliance, and category management, preferably holding qualifications such as a BS in Pharmacy with Supply Chain Management certification or an MBA in Supply Chain Management.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for the procurement of medical supplies, surgical tools, and electro-medical equipment meeting hospital standards.
  • Lead supplier evaluation, selection, and relationship management to ensure high-quality supply and competitive pricing.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing terms, credit arrangements, and vendor rebates to achieve cost reduction objectives without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to establish accurate reorder points and minimize stock-outs, overstocking, and expiration of medical products.
  • Monitor vendor performance and compliance against contract terms and healthcare regulations, conducting periodic reviews and corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with national and international health safety and legal requirements.
  • Manage a team of three procurement professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Use procurement analytics and category management techniques to optimize purchasing decisions and align procurement strategies with hospital objectives.
  • Coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) processes to solicit bids from potential suppliers, ensuring transparency and competitive sourcing.
  • Conduct market research and category analysis to stay informed of industry trends and emerging suppliers in the medical procurement landscape.
  • Apply risk management principles to identify, assess, and mitigate procurement risks affecting supply continuity and cost control.
  • Implement agile procurement methodologies to adapt to changing healthcare demands and project requirements efficiently.
