Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital seeks a highly skilled Senior Quality Control Pharmacist with at least four years of experience in pharmaceutical quality control. The ideal candidate holds a Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a relevant science degree. This role focuses on overseeing chemical, physical, and instrumental analyses to ensure product integrity and compliance with stringent pharmaceutical standards. The candidate will play a critical role in maintaining laboratory accuracy by managing instrument calibration, preventive maintenance, and validation activities. They will ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and regulatory guidelines while supporting the laboratorys quality assurance objectives. The Senior Quality Control Pharmacist will rigorously investigate deviations such as Out-of-Specification and Out-of-Trend results in collaboration with the Quality Control Manager. Although this role does not involve team management, mentorship responsibilities include guiding junior analysts by reviewing analytical data, worksheets, and Certificates of Analysis. The pharmacist ensures the integrity and accuracy of all laboratory operations, contributing to the hospitals commitment to providing safe and effective pharmaceutical products.
Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive chemical, physical, and instrumental analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products.
  • Investigate laboratory deviations, including Out-of-Specification and Out-of-Trend results, in coordination with the Quality Control Manager to ensure compliance and resolution.
  • Manage the calibration of analytical instruments, oversee preventive maintenance schedules, and coordinate method validation or method transfer activities to maintain laboratory accuracy.
  • Ensure adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), current Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and all relevant pharmaceutical regulatory guidelines.
  • Review and verify analytical data, test worksheets, and Certificates of Analysis to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts, promoting best practices in laboratory testing and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation related to quality control activities, including deviation reports, method validations, and calibration records.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential quality issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as production and regulatory affairs to support overall pharmaceutical quality assurance.
  • Monitor compliance with laboratory information management systems to ensure proper data handling and reporting.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, and advances in analytical methods to continuously improve quality control processes.
