The Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, Islamabad, is seeking applications for the position of Pakistan Chair Abroad, Allama Iqbal Visiting Fellowship Chair at the Centre of South Asian Studies, University of Cambridge. Key Responsibilities
The appointed fellow will actively engage with students and scholars on a wide range of topics including Pakistan’s history, culture, people, national and regional languages, prominent literary figures, geography, and regional economic and political issues. This engagement will be conducted in line with the academic standards upheld by the University of Cambridge. The fellow will collaborate closely with university faculty to teach subjects such as Urdu, Pakistan Studies, Pakistani literature, history, society, and culture.

Building and maintaining positive relations between the Pakistani academic community and the University is a vital part of the role. The fellow will participate regularly in weekly seminars at the Centre of South Asian Studies and other relevant academic forums throughout the academic year. Additionally, the fellow will contribute to research activities focused on Pakistan, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry and the University.

The role also involves working with University staff to organize and conduct academic events, including conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, and art exhibitions that highlight Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage. These activities aim to promote Pakistan’s intellectual and cultural contributions on an international platform.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD degree from a Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized university or institution in a relevant field within the humanities or social sciences. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in both teaching and research, with an academic standing equivalent to Associate Professor or higher. The maximum age limit for applicants is 55 years as of the closing date of the advertisement. The position is open to both male and female candidates, with domicile quota applied on a merit basis.

This fellowship is based at the Centre of South Asian Studies, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. For selection purposes, the test city will be Islamabad.
