Requirements for Nurses for placement in UK:

• Should be BSN (Bachelors in Nursing) to work as Band 5 registered nurse.

• Otherwise should at least have 3-4 years Basic Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery to work as Band 4 registered nurse. (But BSN is preferred, otherwise diploma is fine)

• Nurses have to pass CBT (Computer Based Test – online test) in their home country – (Pre UK Arrival).

• Nurses have to take IELTS and must attain Reading: 7, Speaking: 7, Listening: 7, Writing: 6.5 – “Pre UK Arrival”

• Nurses should be a bit proficient in English speaking and understanding (listening)

• Minimum Experience: 2-3 years

• Nurses should have active Nursing Council Registration card in home country.

• Age preference: preferred are young nurse around 35 years or below (or if unmarried

nurses), otherwise nurse with families in their early 40s are also welcome.

• Age Limit: 49 years

• Nurses have to pass OSCE (Objective Structure Clinical Examination) after reaching the UK by / within the first 3 months of their work in the hospital. If they don’t pass OSCE in the first 3 attempts, then they have to work in nursing homes, old care facilities or small street polyclinics as healthcare assistants.

• Medical check-up report should be perfect during the embassy procedure Salaries & Benefits:

• Band 4 Nurse salary (after-tax): GBP 1,700 per month • Band 5 Nurse salary (after-tax): GBP 1,900 per month • These are the minimum salary figures if nurses work 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, 5 days per week, and 21 and half days per month)

• If nurses work more; 24 days in a month and 8 hours each day, then their salaries would be:

• Band 4 Nurse salary (after-tax): GBP 1,925 per month • Band 5 Nurse salary (after-tax): GBP 2,150 per month

• Salary per hour: GBP 13 per hour and above for Band 4 Nurse depending on the placement facility and nurse’ performance GBP 15 per hour and above Band 5 Nurse depending on the placement facility and nurse’ performance

• Work permit on arrival

• Type of Visa: UK Tier 1 Visa (Working Visa including spouse and eligible dependent children)

• 3 years’ initial contract period with the hospital after passing OSCE

• Spouse and children under 18 years can come together with the nurse to UK or within the first 6 months after the nurse arrive the UK.

• Spouse of nurse will be allowed to work.

• Free healthcare of all family members. Full medical insurance and total healthcare coverage offered by UK’s government health system; the same for spouse & dependent children

• Health surcharge will be paid by the hospital for up to 3 years.

• Free education to children in public institutes until college level / high school (K-12) according to UK’s education system.

• Basic Working Hours:

9 hours / day (5 days/week) – 40 hours per week 12 hours / day (3 days/week) – 36 hours per week

• Overtime: Applicable by 1.5 times of basic hourly wage rate

• Air Ticket: Paid to the candidate by the hospital at the time of first arrival to UK

• Salary Type: Taxable

Citizenship: Will be granted after initial 5 to 6 years

• Initial Probationary Period: first 3 – 6 months in which the nurse has to pass OSCE but whereby the nurse is not allowed to work any overtime despite the basic working hours. • No bank statement / financial proof needed during the embassy-immigration procedure. • Nurses have to pay the rent for their accommodation. Accommodation is not free. However, accommodation will be free during the first month of landing / arrival in the UK; sometimes for first 3 months (occasionally) in a very few institutes.
