As the company expands its international client base and vessel calls, it is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager - Commercial Operations to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage the entire vessel operational cycle, from nomination through to Final Disbursement Account (FDA) closure, ensuring efficiency, compliance, client satisfaction, and commercial excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Arrival Management: Review and approve vessel nominations, prepare and issue Disbursement Accounts (DA), coordinate pre-arrival documentation and port formalities, arrange husbandry services, permits, approvals, and funding, monitor vessel readiness and berth prospects, and liaise with principals, owners, charterers, and stakeholders.
Port Call & Arrival Operations: Supervise arrival planning and execution, ensure timely issuance of arrival instructions and Notice of Readiness (NOR), coordinate vessel berthing with terminals and port authorities, manage operational risks, resolve issues proactively, and lead Commercial Operations staff during vessel calls.
Operational Excellence: Monitor cargo operations, turnaround performance, and operational milestones; provide timely reports to clients and management; maintain strong relationships with port authorities, terminals, surveyors, vendors, and government agencies; drive service quality, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction; track operational KPIs and recommend improvements.
Post-Sailing Activities: Review sailing documentation and cargo completion records, validate service entries, prepare Final Disbursement Accounts (FDA), ensure prompt voyage reporting and account closure, conduct post-call performance reviews, and analyze client feedback to implement corrective actions.
Leadership & Team Management: Supervise and mentor the Operations team, support training and performance development, foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement, and ensure adherence to company policies, HSSE standards, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is essential. Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in shipping, vessel agency, port operations, logistics, or maritime commercial operations. A strong understanding of vessel agency operations, port and terminal procedures, FDA/DA preparation and control, commercial shipping documentation, husbandry services, and port regulations is required. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and reporting tools are necessary. The ability to manage multiple vessel calls simultaneously under tight deadlines is also important.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
