The Montessori Teacher supports a holistic educational approach tailored to individual learning styles and developmental needs, ensuring each child thrives emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Patience, creativity, and passion for early childhood education are essential traits. This position requires a minimum of two years of relevant Montessori teaching experience. Though this role does not include managing a team, the teacher collaborates closely with school staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational community that aligns with the values of American Lyceum International School.


Responsibilities
  • Implement the Montessori philosophy effectively to create a structured yet flexible classroom environment that encourages self-directed learning.
  • Design and deliver age-appropriate educational activities that foster cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in young learners.
  • Observe and assess individual student progress regularly to tailor learning experiences that meet specific developmental needs.
  • Manage classroom behavior positively by establishing clear expectations and fostering respect and cooperation among students.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with parents using parent communication software, providing updates on student achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and organize educational materials and the classroom environment to support hands-on learning and exploration.
  • Encourage and guide children to develop independence, self-discipline, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school administration to develop and refine curriculum and school policies according to Montessori principles.
  • Attend professional development sessions and stay current with early childhood education practices and Montessori trends.
  • Support the social development of children by facilitating group activities and promoting positive peer interactions.
  • Promote a culture of inquiry and curiosity by encouraging questions and explorations within the classroom.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive learning environment that respects each child’s individuality and pace of learning.
