- Collaborate with business partners and analysts to translate requirements into clear data definitions, models, and metrics.
- Establish and enforce consistent business logic for shared metrics and dimensions.
- Create and maintain data quality tests, investigate failures, and trace issues to their root causes.
- Document model purposes, ownership, definitions, dependencies, and known limitations.
- Assess downstream impacts before implementing changes to models, metrics, or source assumptions.
- Use Git and established review and deployment processes to safely release changes.
- Support datasets and semantic models used in reporting layers and applications.
- Continuously improve existing models and workflows in response to evolving business needs and source systems.
- Communicate trade-offs, dependencies, and delivery risks effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Complete ongoing security awareness training and comply with company policies.
- Identify and escalate security risks to the appropriate leadership and contribute to remediation efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in SQL with experience building production-grade data models.
- Hands-on experience with dbt or a similar data transformation framework.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Expertise in designing dimensional models and data marts.
- Experience in testing, documenting, and maintaining data models.
- Knowledge of Git and collaborative code review and deployment practices.
- Ability to investigate data discrepancies and clearly explain their causes.
- Strong skills in working with business partners to clarify requirements and resolve differences in metric definitions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and follow-through capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience with Python for data tasks or automation.
- Background in supporting data integration related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Experience owning semantic models and master data management.
- Familiarity with IT, VAR, distribution, or supply chain data.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means core business data is organized into documented, tested, and reusable models and marts. Teams consistently use shared metric definitions, and an internal marketplace for certified datasets is established. Data issues are investigated and resolved at their source whenever possible. Changes undergo thorough review, testing, and impact assessment before release. Analysts and business partners can easily find and understand the data products they need. Ownership and model logic are clearly documented, reducing reliance on undocumented knowledge.
