The core application is already developed, and the current focus is completing offline functionality, improving reliability, and preparing the application for production deployment across dedicated Android POS devices.

We are looking for an experienced Android Developer who can understand an existing codebase, implement new features, resolve technical issues, and help prepare the application for reliable operation in live restaurant environments.

Key Responsibilities1. Existing Android App Development

• Review and understand the existing Android Studio project and GitHub repository.
• Maintain and improve the current application without unnecessarily rebuilding existing functionality.
• Fix bugs, optimize performance, and implement required features.
• Ensure compatibility with the existing backend and web-based POS platform.
• Work with the existing codebase, architecture, and integrations.

1. Offline Mode and Data Synchronization

• Complete offline functionality for essential restaurant POS operations.
• Implement local data storage using Room, SQLite, or the appropriate existing database.
• Allow supported operations, such as order creation and order updates, to continue during internet outages.
• Synchronize locally stored data with the backend when connectivity returns.
• Handle synchronization conflicts, duplicate requests, failed API calls, and interrupted connections.
• Ensure orders and transaction states remain consistent across devices.
• Implement reliable retry mechanisms and clear synchronization status indicators.
• Identify which operations can safely work offline and which require a live connection, particularly payment processing.

1. Multi-Device and Multi-Screen Support

• POS Register

• Kitchen Display System (KDS)
• Supported payment terminals and peripherals

1. Android Hardware Integration

• Maintain integrations with supported Android POS hardware, including HANASIS BLAZE and PAX A77 where applicable.
• Troubleshoot printer, cash drawer, and payment-terminal integrations.
• Work with manufacturer SDKs and APIs where required.
• Test the application on actual devices and their supported Android versions.

1. OTA Updates and Production Deployment

• Implement or maintain the private Over-the-Air (OTA) update system.
• Manage signed APK builds, application versioning, and release procedures.
• Support Beta testing on office devices before production releases.
• Deploy approved updates to live restaurant devices.
• Verify whether unattended installation is supported on each target device.
• Prevent updates from interrupting active orders or payments.
• Monitor update failures and maintain recovery procedures.

1. API and Backend Integration

• Maintain REST API integrations with the existing backend.
• Coordinate with the backend team on authentication, device registration, and data synchronization.
• Troubleshoot API failures, expired sessions, and network-related issues.
• Ensure consistent data between Android devices and the central POS system.

1. Testing and Maintenance

• Test the existing application across Register, Front Desk, and KDS.
• Test online-to-offline transitions and synchronization after reconnection.
• Verify order processing, payment status, printing, and kitchen workflows.
• Test app restarts, device reboots, and update failures.
• Document changes and maintain code through GitHub.

• Strong experience in native Android development using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Hands-on experience with Android Studio, Android SDK, Gradle, and APK builds.
• Experience working on an existing production application and extending its functionality.
• Practical knowledge of offline-first architecture and local databases.
• Experience with API integration, background processing, and data synchronization.
• Understanding of Android device compatibility and responsive layouts.
• Experience with Git and GitHub.
• Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.

• Restaurant POS, retail POS, kiosk, or similar operational applications.
• Offline order management and reliable data synchronization.
• Android POS hardware and printer integrations.
• Payment-terminal SDKs and payment workflow integration.
