We are seeking an Applicant Screening Agent to join our remote recruiting team. In this role, you will initiate brief phone conversations with candidates from the recruiter’s list to assess their basic fit for the position. You will handle incoming applications and return-call requests, asking approved questions related to candidate interest, availability, and readiness for the next step. Your detailed notes will provide valuable insights to recruiters before interviews. You will also coordinate interview scheduling, explain the process to candidates, and ensure smooth communication throughout. This position is fully remote, involves working from home, and offers a monthly base salary plus bonus opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review screening questions and plan your call order using an applicant tracking system such as Lever.
- Contact applicants via a business phone system like Dialpad, introduce yourself, explain the purpose of the call, and confirm their availability to speak.
- Ask approved questions regarding candidate interest, availability, workspace suitability, and spoken English proficiency, recording responses accurately without assumptions.
- Clearly explain the next steps using recruiter-approved information, answering simple questions and escalating complex issues to the recruiting team lead.
- Categorize each applicant as ready for the next step, not now, or not a fit, following established screening guidelines.
- Schedule interviews for qualified candidates using tools such as Calendly, confirming date and time before ending calls.
- Send concise interview reminders with clear joining instructions and follow up with candidates who miss interviews to reschedule.
- Update applicant tracking records after every call, including answers, call outcomes, return-call requests, and next steps.
- Share comprehensive screening notes with recruiters before interviews, highlighting any unanswered questions for further discussion.
- Maintain accurate and confidential candidate records, marking incorrect numbers, duplicates, and withdrawals to keep data current.
- Meet quality standards by providing polite, clear communication, accurate note-taking, correct scheduling, and timely follow-up. Use feedback to continuously improve your calls.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficient spoken and written English, as calls are primarily with candidates and teams based in the United States.
- Access to a computer, mobile phone, stable internet connection, and reliable electricity.
- No prior recruiting experience required; however, experience in phone support, customer service, or interview scheduling is preferred.
- Calm, friendly phone manner with the ability to explain processes clearly and patiently.
- Willingness to learn applicant tracking, phone, and scheduling tools through guided training.
- Ability to consistently follow screening rules and ask approved questions fairly across all candidate calls.
- Attention to detail in recording answers, verifying interview dates, and matching notes to the correct applicant.
- Strong respect for candidate privacy, maintaining confidentiality within approved systems and sharing information only with the recruiting team.
- Active listening skills, confirming unclear responses, and seeking guidance from the team lead rather than guessing.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Experience with applicant tracking systems, business phone platforms, and scheduling tools is an advantage.
- This is a fully remote position with work-from-home flexibility integrated into daily operations.
- Structured onboarding and comprehensive training on Lever, Dialpad, and Calendly are provided.
- Regular check-ins with a team lead to review calls, questions, and performance progress.
- Opportunities for growth within the team as you develop screening and scheduling expertise.
- Bonus opportunities available in addition to the base salary.
