We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to plan and deliver engaging art lessons for upper primary students. Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Develop and deliver age-appropriate art lessons that nurture students’ creativity, imagination, and artistic skills. Teach a variety of techniques including drawing, painting, sketching, craftwork, and mixed-media art. Encourage students to experiment, think independently, and solve creative problems. Assess student work regularly, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback. Maintain a well-organised, inclusive, and inspiring art classroom environment.
School Events and Celebrations
Plan and implement creative art activities for school events such as national days, cultural celebrations, seasonal festivities, and other special occasions. Design and prepare event backdrops, stage decorations, display boards, banners, props, and other visual materials as needed. Collaborate closely with school leadership, teachers, and event coordinators to develop and execute creative concepts. Organise student art exhibitions, competitions, and showcases to highlight student achievements. Guide students in preparing artwork, models, and decorations for assemblies, performances, open days, and other events. Ensure timely preparation and installation of décor and displays in line with school timelines. Contribute to interdisciplinary projects and collaborative activities across various subjects.
Resource and Classroom Management
Manage art supplies, materials, and equipment efficiently and responsibly. Ensure the safe use of tools and maintain a clean, organised workspace. Keep an updated portfolio or record of students’ artwork and creative development. Regularly refresh art displays and classroom environments to showcase ongoing student learning.
Professional Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with colleagues and school leadership to support academic and co-curricular initiatives. Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development sessions, school functions, and other assigned duties. Demonstrate flexibility, creativity, initiative, and strong organisational skills, especially during busy event periods.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of three years of relevant art teaching experience, preferably at the primary or upper primary level. A degree or relevant qualification in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field is preferred. Strong artistic, creative, and visual design skills are essential. Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational abilities are required. Experience in event décor, art exhibitions, stage design, and school celebrations will be considered an advantage. The ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines is crucial.
