The Assistant Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the overall accounting functions of the organization. This position involves managing daily accounting tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and accurate data entry. The individual ensures that financial transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner, supporting the preparation of financial reports and audits. This role is ideal for someone with at least two years of accounting experience who is detail-oriented and capable of working independently to support the finance departments operations. The Assistant Accountant does not manage a team but works closely with senior accounting staff and other departments to ensure smooth financial operations. This role requires proficiency in billing and invoicing systems and a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance with company procedures. The position supports effective financial management by maintaining up-to-date financial records and assisting with routine financial reconciliations and document processing.
Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in all entries.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Ensure data entry accuracy in all financial documentation and accounting software.
  • Manage billing and invoicing processes using established systems and procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and audits as required.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities by gathering and organizing financial data.
  • Verify and reconcile vendor and customer statements to maintain current accounts.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue customer payments.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of accounting records to comply with company policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information and resolve any transactional issues.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies in all financial activities.
  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts for accounting processes and procedures.
