Pakistan Single Window (PSW) is recruiting on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA), a strategic national initiative aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s agri-trade ecosystem. NAFSA focuses on enhancing regulatory oversight, facilitating trade, and modernizing food safety and trade processes. The selected candidate will join NAFSA’s foundational team and play a key role in developing systems, processes, and institutional capabilities to support these objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will provide local operational supervision of phytosanitary inspection and compliance activities related to plant imports and exports at the assigned point of entry, exit, or regional station. This includes supervising inspectors and ensuring adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for documentary verification, physical inspections, sampling, and reporting.

They will coordinate the verification of phytosanitary treatments such as fumigation, heat, or cold treatments, ensuring that treatment parameters and safety standards are met. The role also involves supporting workflows for issuing phytosanitary certificates for exports and clearance decisions for imports by verifying the completeness and accuracy of inspection outcomes.

Coordination with Customs and other border agencies is essential to facilitate compliant and timely trade processes. The candidate will be responsible for promptly reporting interceptions, non-compliances, suspected fraud, and biosecurity risks, while preparing official records.

Maintaining local compliance records and submitting periodic operational reports to headquarters is a key part of the role. Additionally, the candidate will support audits, verification missions, and the training of field staff as directed. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the reporting officer to support NAFSA’s mandate.

Required Qualifications

The candidate must hold a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree with a minimum of sixteen years of education in Agriculture, specializing in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science, or a related field.

Experience

A minimum of four years of relevant experience is required in plant quarantine, border inspection, export/import compliance, or field operations. The candidate should have a strong understanding of phytosanitary inspection and sampling procedures, along with familiarity with relevant SOPs.

Strong coordination and reporting skills are essential, as is proficiency in computer applications. The role requires a willingness to work in shift patterns and field environments, including busy border points.

No additional preferred qualifications or benefits were specified in the original description.
