Assistant Financial Controller

Located at Plaza ONE on Main GT Road near DHA Phase 2 Gate 1 in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, this full-time, onsite position offers working hours from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (PKT). The role of Assistant Financial Controller is designed for a detail-oriented and analytical professional who can manage complex accounting operations and oversee end-to-end bookkeeping in accordance with US accounting standards. The ideal candidate will work independently, handling month-end close activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and applying sound accounting judgment. This position requires someone who goes beyond routine bookkeeping by proactively identifying discrepancies, investigating financial issues, and delivering reliable financial insights while ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage comprehensive bookkeeping and accounting operations, ensuring financial records are accurate and current.
- Independently perform complex account reconciliations, accruals, adjusting journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
- Prepare and review general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Investigate discrepancies, identify unusual transactions, resolve accounting issues, and maintain completeness and accuracy of financial data.
- Analyze financial statements to identify trends, variances, and potential risks, providing meaningful insights to support decision-making.
- Apply sound accounting judgment when handling complex transactions, adjustments, and financial reporting matters.
- Maintain proper documentation, internal controls, and ensure compliance with applicable US accounting standards and practices.
- Manage deadlines effectively, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of financial reporting activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support the implementation of efficient workflows.
- Assist with audit preparation, financial reporting, and other accounting-related requirements as needed.
- Review accounting work and provide technical guidance to junior team members when applicable.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting certifications such as ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent are preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end close processes.
- Proven ability to independently handle complex reconciliations, accruals, adjusting entries, and full-cycle bookkeeping.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and exercise sound accounting judgment.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining accounting matters clearly and professionally.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and operate with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting, or US accounting operations.
- Familiarity with financial reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, and internal controls.
- Experience reviewing junior accountants’ work and providing technical guidance.
- Knowledge of US tax-related bookkeeping requirements and audit support.
