Mustafa Developers is seeking a commercially driven Assistant Manager – Procurement to manage procurement activities for its residential development and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in construction procurement, including sourcing materials, managing vendors, negotiating prices, preparing comparative statements, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery. This role demands close coordination with project teams to meet schedules and quality standards while maintaining cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing:
Oversee the entire procurement process for construction materials, equipment, services, and other project needs. Source and evaluate suppliers and contractors, obtain quotations, and prepare comparative statements. Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions. Ensure all procurement aligns with approved budgets and company policies. Maintain an up-to-date supplier and vendor database.
Construction & Project Procurement:
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and management to identify procurement requirements. Procure materials based on approved specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), drawings, and project timelines. Ensure materials are available on time at project sites, monitor lead times, and proactively address supply delays. Manage procurement for structural, finishing, MEP, electrical, plumbing, sanitary, hardware, and other construction needs. Support sourcing of premium, high-quality materials for residential projects.
Vendor Management:
Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors and suppliers. Negotiate competitive rates without compromising quality. Monitor vendor performance regarding quality, delivery, and service. Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier documentation. Conduct periodic vendor evaluations and recommend improvements.
Cost Control & Procurement Reporting:
Perform market research and price benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options. Monitor procurement activities against budgets. Review purchase orders for accuracy in quantities, rates, and specifications. Prepare procurement status reports and management information systems (MIS). Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all procurement transactions.
Coordination:
Collaborate with Finance, Accounts, Projects, Stores, and Management teams to ensure timely processing of purchase orders and approvals. Follow up on deliveries and resolve procurement-related issues. Assist management in developing procurement strategies and improving processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant procurement experience, preferably with hands-on exposure to construction/project procurement.
- Experience in sourcing construction materials and finishing items is highly desirable.
- Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Good knowledge of construction materials and specifications.
- Strong understanding of procurement procedures and commercial practices.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and procurement/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical and cost-comparison abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- High level of integrity and commercial judgment.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Master’s degree or professional certification in Supply Chain or Procurement is an advantage.
- Experience in real estate development, construction companies, or project-based organizations is preferred.
- Competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs 90,000 to Rs 110,000.
- The role requires travel to project sites (“on the road”).
