Project Accountants Ltd, a Jersey-based professional services firm, is seeking an Assistant Manager – Accounting to join their team. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality accounting and financial reporting services to a diverse client portfolio, mainly within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing statutory and management reports, overseeing junior team members’ work, and applying strong technical accounting knowledge in accordance with IFRS and UK GAAP. The role demands excellent attention to detail, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting, including cash flow forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and review annual and interim financial statements in line with IFRS, UK GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
- Compile monthly and quarterly management accounts in client-specific formats within established deadlines.
- Produce financial information for inclusion in board and committee reporting packs as required.
- Review and perform quality assurance on work completed by team members, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with professional standards.
- Apply and interpret a broad range of accounting standards, providing technical guidance when necessary.
- Draft technical accounting papers addressing accounting treatments, judgments, and the impact of new or amended standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Qualified or pursuing qualification with a recognized professional accounting body such as ACCA, CA, or ICAEW.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, particularly in IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Proven experience within the financial services sector.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience reviewing work prepared by others and providing constructive feedback.
- Excellent attention to detail with a consistent focus on delivering high-quality outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize work logically and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and adherence to high ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, emphasizing general accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Experience supporting month-end and period-end close processes, including preparation of recurring management accounts.
- Prior experience working within the offshore financial services sector is highly desirable.
- Background in professional services, audit, or accounting advisory environments.
- Exposure to preparing technical accounting memoranda or advisory-style papers.
- Experience providing guidance, review, or informal supervision to junior team members.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or similar platforms is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team environment.
