Assistant Manager Accounting

Project Accountants Ltd, a Jersey-based professional services firm, is seeking an Assistant Manager – Accounting to join their team. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality accounting and financial reporting services to a varied client base, primarily within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing statutory and management reports, overseeing junior team members’ work, and applying strong technical accounting knowledge in accordance with IFRS and UK GAAP. The position requires excellent attention to detail, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting, including cash flow forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and review annual and interim financial statements in compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
- Compile monthly and quarterly management accounts in client-specific formats within established deadlines.
- Produce financial information for inclusion in board and committee reporting packs as needed.
- Review and ensure the quality and accuracy of work completed by other team members, maintaining adherence to professional standards.
- Apply and interpret a wide range of accounting standards, offering technical guidance where necessary.
- Draft technical accounting papers that address accounting treatments, judgments, and the implications of new or revised accounting standards.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Qualified or pursuing qualification as a member of a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CA, ICAEW).
- Strong technical accounting expertise with demonstrable experience in IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Proven background within the financial services sector.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience reviewing colleagues’ work and providing clear, constructive feedback.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a consistent focus on delivering high-quality outputs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize work logically and manage multiple priorities effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and adherence to high ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

- Between 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on general accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Experience supporting month-end and period-end close processes, including preparation of recurring management accounts.
- Prior experience working in the offshore financial services sector is preferred.
- Background in professional services, audit, or accounting advisory environments.
- Exposure to preparing technical accounting memoranda or advisory-style papers.
- Experience providing guidance, review, or informal supervision to junior team members.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or similar platforms is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote working environment.
