The University Main Office (UMO) at the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) is looking for a skilled finance professional to join its Finance Directorate. The successful candidate will have completed CA Inter along with article ship at a reputable CA firm and possess 2-3 years of relevant experience. This role involves managing financial operations within one of the Finance Directorate’s sub-sections, such as Fee, Payment/Treasury, Financial Reporting, Budget, Fixed Assets, Taxation, Endowments, Investment, or Payroll. The candidate should have a strong grasp of modern financial management practices, relevant legislation including IFRS, and applicable tax laws. Excellent communication, analytical abilities, and leadership skills to manage a small team are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial operations of the assigned section, ensuring compliance with best practices, procedures, and NUST policies.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and data using current financial reporting tools and techniques.
- Provide support to the head of section and department as required.
- Compile monthly financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
- Generate budget utilization reports to assist management in decision-making.
- Verify Bank Reconciliation Statements manually and through ERP systems.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure adherence to policies and regulatory requirements.
- Present summarized financial data and reports for management review.
- Ensure tax compliance at the transaction level.
- Assist external and internal audit teams during audit processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate compliance requirements.
- Efficiently manage the fixed assets register.
Required Qualifications
- CA Inter qualification with completed article ship at a reputable CA firm.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience, including article ship.
- Proficient understanding of modern financial management and accounting practices, including IFRS.
- Knowledge of applicable regional and national tax laws.
- Strong communication, written, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- General IT proficiency, including experience with ERP systems (especially financial modules), Microsoft Office, email, and internet research.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of 2-3 members.
- Familiarity with financial cycles such as Revenue/Receivable, Procurement/Payable, Payroll, and Financial Reporting.
- Commitment to professional ethics and code of conduct.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience working in a leading CA firm is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with ERP financial modules is desirable.
- Candidates must provide attested or verified academic and professional documents, with the last education certificate verified by HEC.
- Applicants with a history of third division in academics or weak academic profiles may be disqualified.
- Current NUST employees with less than one year of service or without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Head of Institution are not eligible.
- Candidates pursuing the required degree or medically unfit will not be considered.
