The Senior Citrix Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting Citrix environments both on-premises and in Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) cloud models. This position ensures the delivery of robust Citrix infrastructure solutions that provide a seamless and secure end-user experience while maintaining high availability. The engineer is responsible for managing the technical landscape, addressing performance issues, and optimizing system resources to ensure stability and alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Design & Architecture: Develop and implement scalable, secure Citrix infrastructure strategies for both on-premises and cloud environments. Design Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions that meet organizational needs, ensuring high availability and security.

- Performance Optimization: Monitor Citrix system performance to reduce latency and resolve IOPS challenges. Implement traffic routing and load balancing strategies to enhance user experience and optimize resource allocation.

- Cloud & On-Premises Integration: Lead the migration of users from on-premises systems to DaaS platforms with minimal disruption. Manage hybrid VDI environments, ensuring smooth interoperability between cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide tier 2 and tier 3 support for complex Citrix issues. Conduct root cause analysis of recurring problems, implement permanent fixes, and maintain thorough documentation.

- Security & Compliance: Ensure Citrix environments comply with regulatory standards by applying patches, security updates, and managing access controls. Administer Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to safeguard sensitive data.

- Project Management: Lead Citrix infrastructure projects such as cloud migrations and NetScaler technology refreshes. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery and resolve any obstacles.

Required Qualifications

- Citrix Technology Expertise: Extensive knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix NetScaler, and Workspace Environment Management (WEM). Experience with both on-premises and cloud-based Citrix solutions, including hybrid configurations. Skilled in traffic management, load balancing, and session management.

- Cloud Infrastructure: Strong understanding of public and private cloud platforms, particularly Azure, and their integration with Citrix DaaS. Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and VMware.

- Security & Compliance: Solid grasp of cybersecurity principles related to virtual desktop infrastructure, including encryption, access control, and security policies. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks like GDPR, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS as they apply to Citrix environments.

- Networking: Proficient in network protocols, VPN setup, firewall configurations, and WAN optimization relevant to Citrix and VDI deployments. Experience managing routing, traffic distribution, and latency in hybrid environments.

- Technical Skills: Advanced troubleshooting capabilities, including performance monitoring and resource management within Citrix environments. Expertise in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and deployment methodologies. Skilled in managing Citrix policies, profiles, machine catalogs, and delivery groups.

- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects from planning through execution, including migrations, upgrades, and ongoing business-as-usual activities.

- Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Experience leading and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as network, security, and application groups.

- Analytical & Problem Solving: Ability to analyze system performance, diagnose complex issues, and implement long-term solutions. Proactive in identifying risks and performance bottlenecks, applying preventive measures.

- Experience: Minimum of 8 years managing Citrix environments, including design, deployment, and troubleshooting. Experience with large-scale VDI environments supporting hundreds to thousands of users across multiple locations. Demonstrated success in Citrix Cloud migrations and hybrid deployments.

- Infrastructure & Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with enterprise-scale infrastructure, including storage, networking, and virtualization technologies. Familiarity with integrating Citrix DaaS solutions with public/private cloud platforms like Azure.

- Project Leadership: Experience leading infrastructure projects related to Citrix, including technology refreshes, cloud migrations, and performance optimization initiatives.
