Our client, a confidential organization based in Islamabad, is seeking an Assistant Manager - Credit Control and Recovery. This role supports the Credit Recovery Manager in safeguarding the company’s cash flow by ensuring timely collection of invoices, effective credit control, and minimizing overdue debt. The Assistant Manager monitors the balance between recoverable and payable amounts, evaluates customer creditworthiness and payment behavior, and ensures compliance with agreed credit terms. This prevents the company from unintentionally financing customers’ businesses. Additionally, the role involves supervising the credit control team and acting as the escalation point for challenging accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor customer accounts regularly, including credit limits, outstanding invoices, and payment performance, to ensure timely collections.
- Assess customer credit risk by reviewing financial information and payment histories, enforcing adherence to agreed payment terms.
- Identify customers who exceed credit limits or consistently delay payments, escalating these cases for further action.
- Minimize overdue and aged debt through effective debt collection strategies and prompt resolution of customer disputes.
- Oversee the balance between recoverable and payable amounts to support strong cash-flow management.
- Prevent unauthorized or extended credit usage that could negatively impact the company’s financial position.
- Supervise and guide the credit control team, promoting skill development and adherence to collection procedures.
- Act as the primary escalation point for difficult accounts and complex credit control issues, applying problem-solving skills to resolve challenges.
- Prepare and analyze regular reports on debt status, collections progress, credit exposure, and cash-flow risks to inform management decisions.
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales, and Operations departments to address and resolve disputes or issues related to customer accounts.
- Set and ensure achievement of collection targets for the credit control team, driving performance improvements as needed.
- Maintain compliance with credit policies and procedures to reduce financial risk and strengthen the company’s credit position.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in credit control, credit risk assessment, or debt recovery, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of credit management principles, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in handling complex credit issues.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal departments and manage customer relationships.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed reports and presenting findings to senior management.
