Assistant Manager Internal Audit

The Assistant Manager Internal Audit role, based in Islamabad, is a permanent position within the Compliance & Internal Audit department. Reporting to the Senior Manager Internal Audit, this role is designed to provide an independent and objective evaluation of the company’s operations, focusing on the effectiveness and efficiency of its internal control structure. The incumbent will support management by applying a systematic and disciplined approach to assess and enhance control activities and the overall control environment, ensuring organizational objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute various assurance engagements including audit assignments, review assignments, compliance engagements, special investigations, and agreed-upon procedures.
- Provide an unbiased and objective assessment of control effectiveness through audits conducted in operational, reporting, and compliance areas as per the approved audit plan.
- Evaluate and improve control processes, offering senior management assurance that supports their responsibilities to the organization and its stakeholders.
- Develop and implement efficient execution plans to strengthen controls while maintaining objectivity and independence; recommend improvements to control procedures.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the business areas under review, including objectives, key transaction types, and relevant documentation through interviews and analysis.
- Assess key risks within the audit scope, benchmark management practices against best practice control frameworks, and ensure risks are adequately controlled and monitored.
- Design and apply a risk-based sampling and testing methodology to verify that critical management controls operate as intended.
- Report identified issues and challenges, negotiating actionable plans with management to resolve them effectively.
- Conduct follow-ups on reported findings at appropriate intervals, maintaining a follow-up database to ensure compliance with agreed action plans from previous audits.
- Perform review engagements to provide independent negative assurance for medium-risk business areas requiring limited assurance, as outlined in the approved audit plan.
- Support the audit team with ad hoc analyses and assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications

- A bachelor’s degree is mandatory, with professional certifications such as CA, ICAEW, ACCA, or ICMA highly preferred.
- Ideally, candidates should have between 5 to 7 years of experience in internal audit and finance.
