The Assistant Manager, Operation Theater plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of surgical services. This position involves coordinating surgical schedules, managing staff and equipment, and ensuring optimal use of resources within the operation theater. The role demands strict adherence to patient safety protocols, infection control measures, quality standards, and departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, the Assistant Manager supports staff supervision, drives quality improvement initiatives, and fosters collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional surgical care.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and manage surgical schedules to maximize operation theater utilization and minimize delays.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of surgical equipment and resources to ensure readiness for procedures.
- Supervise OT staff, including nurses and technicians, to maintain high standards of performance and compliance.
- Ensure strict adherence to patient safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and quality standards.
- Monitor and enforce departmental SOPs to maintain consistency and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth surgical workflows.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead quality improvement initiatives within the operation theater.
- Manage inventory and procurement of OT supplies and equipment to avoid shortages or excess.
- Prepare reports on OT utilization, performance metrics, and incident management for senior management review.
- Provide training and development support to OT staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Respond promptly to operational challenges and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to surgical services.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in operation theater management or a similar healthcare operations role.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage complex schedules and resources.
- Effective leadership and team management skills to supervise and motivate OT staff.
- Proficiency in using hospital management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
