The Ops Risk Manager plays a vital role within Mashreq Bank’s Operational Risk Management Team by overseeing the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the RCSA process, including people, processes, and infrastructure, with a focus on enhancing the overall Operational Risk Management (ORM) Framework. The role involves driving consistent application of ORM policies across multiple business lines and corporate functions, ensuring risks are properly identified, measured, monitored, and controlled. Additionally, the manager conducts root cause and thematic analyses to support a comprehensive risk management approach.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and manage the RCSA program, including annual refresh cycles and ad hoc assessments triggered by specific events.
- Identify and propose process improvements aligned with broader enterprise initiatives to enhance risk management effectiveness.
- Engage with stakeholders regularly to facilitate the RCSA lifecycle, promote knowledge sharing, and encourage discussions on lessons learned and best practices.
- Develop and maintain procedures that support the delivery and oversight of the core Operational Risk Management RCSA process.
- Utilize operational risk metrics, reporting tools, and business insights to provide an independent, holistic view of risks and challenge risk-related decisions effectively.
- Oversee the Risk and Controls Self-Assessment Methodology and Procedure Documents, ensuring clear communication with business lines, the Operational Risk Team, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in meetings with business units and enterprise functions to advise on updates, changes, or recent events related to the RCSA program.
- Implement a change management strategy that includes communications and training to increase stakeholder awareness and adoption as processes evolve.
- Stay current with Enterprise Risk Management and Operational Risk Management guidelines, ensuring compliance and best practices.
- Lead the Quality Assurance Review process for the RCSA program to maintain high standards and accuracy.
- Monitor identified deficiencies and oversee remediation efforts to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Administer PRISM application and other Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools related to the RCSA program.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners and key stakeholders.
- Support special projects as assigned by senior management.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Risk Management or related fields such as compliance, testing and monitoring, or audit, preferably within financial services or a similar industry.
- Strong familiarity with banking industry regulatory requirements and risk management practices.
- Solid understanding of common risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
