We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Compliance Specialist to oversee all tax-related functions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) requirements. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely tax filings, manage income tax matters, and maintain compliance across various tax domains. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external tax authorities, as well as staying updated on changes in tax legislation to uphold the organization’s financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily tax compliance activities following relevant laws, regulations, and FBR guidelines. Prepare, review, and ensure timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns and statements. Handle income tax matters including advance tax calculations, annual returns, tax provisions, and associated workings. Oversee withholding tax (WHT) processes such as calculations, deductions, deposits, reconciliations, and preparation of withholding statements. Ensure correct application of withholding tax rates on vendor payments, services, contracts, salaries, and other transactions.
Manage sales tax compliance by preparing and reviewing sales tax workings, returns, input/output tax reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Reconcile sales tax, withholding tax, and income tax ledgers with the general ledger, identifying and resolving discrepancies. Review tax implications of business transactions and provide guidance to Finance, Procurement, HR, and other departments. Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records, workings, certificates, challans, returns, and supporting documents.
Monitor tax payment and filing deadlines, maintaining a comprehensive tax compliance calendar. Handle correspondence and coordination with FBR, PRA/SRB/KPRA/PRA, or other relevant tax authorities as applicable. Assist in tax audits, assessments, notices, and inquiries, coordinating with consultants and tax authorities when necessary. Review tax notices and prepare required responses, supporting documents, and reconciliations.
Support management of tax assessments, appeals, refunds, exemptions, and tax certificates where applicable. Keep abreast of changes in tax laws, Finance Acts, notifications, circulars, and regulations, communicating relevant impacts to management. Assist in preparing tax provisions, deferred tax workings, and other tax-related schedules in coordination with Finance/Accounts. Conduct periodic reviews to identify potential tax risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
Help develop and implement effective tax policies, controls, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Coordinate with external tax consultants, auditors, and internal stakeholders on taxation matters. Prepare tax reports, management information system (MIS) updates, reconciliations, and management reports as required. Ensure confidentiality and proper maintenance of sensitive tax and financial information.
Required Qualifications
CA Inter, ACCA, ICMA, M.Com, MBA Finance, B.Com, or equivalent qualification. Four to six years of relevant experience in taxation, preferably within a corporate environment. Strong hands-on experience in Income Tax, Sales Tax, and Withholding Tax. Good knowledge of Pakistan’s tax laws and FBR compliance requirements. Experience with tax returns, reconciliations, audits, notices, and tax documentation. Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar is preferred. Strong analytical, numerical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation and Work Location
The position offers a monthly salary starting from Rs. 150,000. The role requires on-site presence at the company’s office.
