Assistant Manager - Technology - Middleware & Platforms (Mashreq Global Network Pakistan)

This role requires a skilled professional with expertise in system administration and strong capabilities in supporting critical production issues. The candidate will be responsible for managing the IBM API Connect environment both in cloud and on-premises virtual machines, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security of APIs. The position involves hands-on experience in installation, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of API management platforms, along with active participation in incident resolution and root cause analysis.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, deploy, administer, and monitor IBM API Connect environments across cloud and on-premises VMs.
- Continuously monitor the health and performance of the IBM API Connect infrastructure to ensure high availability of APIs.
- Lead or participate in incident resolution calls to assist with root cause analysis and timely issue resolution.
- Analyze system and application logs to identify and troubleshoot problems within the IBM API Connect environment.
- Configure and implement backup and restoration procedures for IBM API Connect subsystems and configuration data.
- Maintain and manage CI/CD pipelines for building and deploying APIs within IBM API Connect.
- Utilize the API Management Portal to oversee the lifecycle of APIs across multiple catalogs.
- Manage consumer-related tasks including creation of users, groups, roles, and security configurations.
- Customize the IBM API Connect Developer Portal by modifying administrative settings, Drupal themes, and content for improved user experience.
- Integrate third-party tools such as Elastic to capture analytics events for customer dashboards.
- Demonstrate expertise in Splunk data platform by constructing advanced search queries, setting up monitoring, and configuring alerts for failures.
- Configure security settings using TLS profiles and native OAuth2 mechanisms to maintain a secure operating environment.
- Apply product maintenance patches, interim releases, and upgrades as necessary.
- Provide technical architecture information, support discovery sessions, and assist architects or team leads with infrastructure, security, and architectural queries.
- Possess strong knowledge of hardware specifications, networking requirements, and storage sizing relevant to IBM API Connect.
- Collaborate with IBM Technical Support and IBM Technical Sales teams to resolve technical issues and close outstanding queries.
- Complete all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, functionality, testing, and support.
- Exhibit strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

- 5 to 8 years of experience in application domain support and system administration.
- Proven expertise in IBM API Connect installation, configuration, deployment, and monitoring on cloud and on-premises platforms.
- Strong experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise and IBM MQ.
- Proficiency in Oracle and SQL databases.
- Solid understanding of Azure Cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with configuring security protocols such as TLS and OAuth2.
- Ability to work with Splunk for advanced monitoring and alerting.
- Knowledge of backup and restoration processes for API management systems.
- Experience in managing API lifecycle through API Management Portals.
- Good understanding of hardware, networking, and storage requirements for API platforms.
- Ability to interact effectively with technical support and sales teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead incident resolution efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

- Working knowledge of Core Java and Microservices architecture.
- Experience with AIX/UNIX operating systems.
- Ability to customize Drupal-based developer portals.
- Familiarity with third-party analytics tools like Elastic.
