The role involves managing Trade Payments and various miscellaneous activities in accordance with the bank’s internal policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) guidelines. The incumbent will be responsible for authorizing transactions within the processing system, covering all aspects of Trade Finance across multiple business segments. This position requires a thorough understanding of trade operations and adherence to regulatory and procedural standards to ensure smooth and compliant transaction processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all processing activities comply with SOPs, Operational Procedures Manuals (OPMs), and relevant trade finance rules such as UCP, ISBP, and ISP, while recovering charges according to current guidelines.
- Conduct sanction checks on relevant parties involved in trade documents to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage day-to-day trade operations efficiently, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Authorize and input transactions into the processing system and prepare or authorize corresponding SWIFT messages.
- Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Team Head to support operational needs.
- Communicate any errors or knowledge gaps to the line manager or team to improve customer service and operational quality.
- Prevent revenue leakage by ensuring all charges are correctly collected without omissions.
- Maintain up-to-date reconciliation of Nostro and internal accounts, ensuring no outstanding entries remain pending.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 9 to 12 years of relevant experience in Trade Operations, demonstrating a strong background in trade finance processes.
- Expert-level knowledge of Letters of Guarantee and Letters of Credit, including their application and documentation requirements.
- Proficient understanding of accounting entries related to trade finance and experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Solid grasp of amortization principles as they apply to trade finance transactions.
- Excellent communication skills, with proven ability in team management and interpersonal relations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, to support reporting and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail combined with analytical capabilities to identify and resolve issues effectively.
