Assistant Professor – English

Northern University Nowshera invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering quality academic instruction, conducting research, mentoring students, and actively participating in curriculum development and accreditation processes in accordance with Higher Education Commission (HEC) standards. This full-time role requires a dedicated professional committed to fostering an engaging learning environment and contributing to the university’s academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures in English Language, Literature, and Linguistics to undergraduate (BS), MPhil, and PhD students, ensuring high academic standards.
- Develop, review, and update curriculum, lesson plans, and assessment frameworks aligned with HEC guidelines.
- Supervise and mentor students in research projects, thesis writing, and academic development.
- Participate actively in academic planning, departmental meetings, and quality assurance activities.
- Lead and contribute to research initiatives, publications, and presentations at academic conferences.
- Manage examination processes, including result compilation and maintenance of academic records.
- Provide academic counseling and support to students to enhance their learning experience.

Required Qualifications
- PhD in English Linguistics, English Literature, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline recognized by the HEC.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant post-PhD teaching and research experience, meeting HEC criteria.
- A strong publication record is preferred, demonstrating research capabilities and academic contribution.

Skills and Competencies
- Excellent command over English Language, Literature, and Linguistics.
- Proven academic leadership and experience in supervising research.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated research orientation with a history of published work.
- Familiarity with HEC accreditation standards and academic quality assurance.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other academic technologies.
