Associate General Manager - Underwriting

HZR Talent Partners is seeking an experienced Associate General Manager – Underwriting to lead the Individual Life and Group Benefits portfolios at a prominent organization based in Karachi. This full-time, on-site role demands a seasoned professional who can provide strategic leadership in underwriting, drive growth through innovation, and ensure robust risk management. The successful candidate will work closely with sales, actuarial teams, and internal stakeholders to optimize underwriting standards and reinsurance arrangements while mentoring a technically skilled team.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the underwriting functions for both Individual Life and Group Benefits portfolios, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Shape and enforce underwriting standards, guiding complex business decisions to optimize treaty and facultative reinsurance arrangements. Provide definitive risk decisions on high-impact individual and group cases within approved authority limits. Manage Group Life pricing, quotations, renewals, and deliver comprehensive account servicing to maintain strong client relationships. Champion process automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and foster innovation. Oversee compliance, governance, controls, and streamline operational workflows across the underwriting department. Mentor and develop a high-performing technical team, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.

Required Qualifications
A minimum of 15 years of extensive life insurance underwriting experience, covering both individual and group sectors, preferably within insurance, banking, or financial services industries at a senior level. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is mandatory, along with a professional FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) qualification. Demonstrated expertise in commercial acumen, risk assessment, and reinsurance judgment is essential. Proven ability to manage executive stakeholder relationships and influence decision-making at senior levels.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

The role offers a competitive salary range of PKR 670,000 to 715,000, along with additional benefits as per company policy.
