Zones, a global leader in end-to-end IT solutions and a Minority Business Enterprise with over 35 years of experience, is seeking an Associate Supply Chain Planner. This role focuses on managing spend programs for assigned categories and brands to maximize value while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing risks associated with aged or obsolete products. The Associate Supply Chain Planner will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure efficient purchasing, pricing negotiations, inventory management, and supplier relationship management. The position operates within a fast-paced environment that supports innovation and growth across digital workplace, cloud, data center, networking, security, and managed services.
Key Responsibilities
Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure optimal pricing and terms, taking into account availability, payment conditions, shipping, return privileges, and delivery timelines. Manage inventory to maintain product availability while mitigating risks related to aging and obsolete stock. Provide guidance and thought leadership to sales and customer teams regarding purchasing strategies and inventory management. Oversee the execution of purchase orders based on demand forecasts, lead times, location, availability, and cost considerations. Collaborate with distributors and manufacturers to set and achieve category goals, including forecasting inventory needs by warehouse location. Manage overall spend from initiation to completion for assigned business categories. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, including improvements in total cost of ownership (TCO). Develop and maintain alternative sourcing strategies for constrained or allocated products. Foster strong interdepartmental relationships to support organizational goals. Communicate professionally and build lasting relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and other external partners. Maintain expertise in category-specific terminology and technology. Supervise and manage team members such as associate buyers and pricing specialists, potentially across multiple domestic and international locations.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in any discipline is mandatory. Candidates should have 1-2 years of experience working within an offshore or outsourced model, ideally in a combined sales, operations, and supply chain function. Experience in the reseller hardware/software industry is preferred. A basic understanding of information technology products and terminology is advantageous.
