Based in Karachi, this opportunity is ideal for a motivated Audit & Finance Associate to join a two-month consulting engagement with a manufacturing company. The position is on-site, with working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM during the contract period of September to October 2026. The role offers hands-on experience in audit, accounting, finance, and internal controls, focusing on financial reconciliations, process walkthroughs, and control testing in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform reconciliations of financial and accounting balances, investigating any discrepancies that arise. Assist in reconciling ERP and DOS systems by identifying discrepancies, omissions, and inconsistencies in financial data. Conduct process walkthroughs to gain a thorough understanding of transaction flows, accounting procedures, and existing internal controls. Execute tests of controls and accurately document the outcomes. Carry out vouching and substantive testing of transactions, balances, and supporting documentation. Review accounting records, ledgers, schedules, and other relevant financial information to ensure accuracy. Help identify control weaknesses, process loopholes, potential misstatements, and fraud risks. Review accounting practices to detect incorrect or inconsistent treatments. Prepare clear and well-organized audit and consulting working papers along with supporting schedules. Perform basic financial and working-capital analyses as required. Engage with client finance, accounts, and operational personnel to discuss observations and gather necessary information. Support the engagement team in documenting findings and preparing recommendations for the final report.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have an educational background in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or a related discipline. CA students/trainees, ACCA students/affiliates, accounting and finance graduates, or candidates with relevant audit experience are encouraged to apply. A strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and audit procedures is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, including advanced functions such as PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data filtering, and the ability to reconcile large datasets. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and professional documentation standards is necessary. Candidates must be able to comprehend business processes and identify control gaps and unusual transactions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are important, along with effective written and verbal communication abilities. Professional interaction skills are needed to engage with client personnel and ask appropriate questions during walkthroughs. A commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of client financial and operational information is mandatory.
