Pavago is seeking a detail-oriented Audit Assistant to support internal and external audit engagements remotely. This full-time role involves preparing audit documentation, reconciling accounts, assisting with control testing, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will collaborate closely with finance, accounting, operations, HR, and audit teams to maintain organized, audit-ready records and respond efficiently to audit requests. The position requires working U.S. client business hours with some flexibility during audit cycles and filing deadlines. Preferred candidates are located in LATAM, Pakistan, the Philippines, or South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and organize Prepared By Client (PBC) schedules, ensuring all supporting documentation such as transactions, reconciliations, contracts, invoices, and financial records are complete and accurately categorized.
- Maintain structured, audit-ready digital files and track outstanding documentation, following up as needed.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies or unsupported balances, and verify sampled transactions against underlying records.
- Assist with internal control walkthroughs and testing, documenting findings clearly and escalating unresolved issues appropriately.
- Support compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and internal accounting policies by maintaining clear audit trails and compliance documentation.
- Identify missing documents or potential control weaknesses and escalate concerns to finance or audit leadership.
- Coordinate with accounting, finance, HR, operations, and internal/external auditors to collect requested records and respond promptly to audit inquiries.
- Maintain audit request trackers, monitor outstanding items, and support audit fieldwork organization.
- Prepare audit status updates for management, document audit findings and recommendations, and assist in identifying opportunities to strengthen controls.
- Ensure year-round audit readiness by maintaining documentation continuously rather than only during audit periods.

Required Qualifications

- 1–2+ years of experience in audit support, accounting, finance, or financial operations, including preparing or reviewing financial documentation and reconciliations.
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data organization.
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and requests simultaneously with strong follow-up discipline.
- Comfortable working remotely during U.S. business hours.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information responsibly.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience supporting internal or external audit teams, public accounting, corporate finance, or audit support roles.
- Exposure to SOX, PCAOB requirements, GAAP, IFRS, and familiarity with internal control frameworks such as COSO or ISO.
- Experience preparing PBC schedules or responding directly to auditor requests.
- Opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to internal and external audits, financial controls, and compliance.
- Cross-functional collaboration across finance and business operations.
- Fully remote work environment with strong career progression opportunities into roles such as Senior Audit Associate, Internal Auditor, Staff or Senior Accountant, Financial Analyst, and other audit and compliance positions.

Candidates will undergo a multi-step interview process including an initial phone screen, video interview, practical task (account reconciliation or mock audit schedule), client interview with audit/finance leadership, and background verification. Qualified applicants will be invited to complete a one-way video interview to showcase their experience in audit support, accounting, reconciliations, PBC schedules, Excel, and compliance.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy detailed, structured financial work, take ownership of documentation, communicate professionally across departments, and thrive in deadline-driven environments. If you are analytical, organized, and reliable, this position offers a valuable opportunity to build expertise in audit execution, internal controls, financial documentation, and compliance.
