An established client is seeking a detail-oriented Audit Assistant to provide essential support for internal and external audit engagements. This full-time remote role involves preparing audit documentation, reconciling accounts, assisting with control testing, and ensuring compliance with financial standards such as GAAP, IFRS, and SOX. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with finance, accounting, operations, HR, and audit teams to maintain organized, audit-ready records and respond promptly to audit requests. This position requires working U.S. business hours with some flexibility during peak audit periods and is open to candidates based in LATAM, Pakistan, the Philippines, or South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

- Compile and organize Prepared By Client (PBC) schedules and supporting documentation, including transactions, contracts, invoices, and financial records.
- Maintain structured, complete, and accessible digital audit files, tracking outstanding documentation and following up as needed.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies or unsupported balances, and document findings clearly.
- Assist with audit walkthroughs, internal control testing, and verification of sampled transactions against financial records.
- Support compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and internal accounting policies by maintaining clear audit trails and compliance documentation.
- Identify missing documentation or potential control issues and escalate concerns to finance or audit leadership.
- Coordinate with accounting, finance, HR, operations, and both internal and external auditors to collect records and respond to audit requests professionally.
- Maintain audit request trackers and status reports to ensure timely completion of audit fieldwork.
- Prepare audit status updates for management and assist in documenting audit findings and recommendations.
- Promote year-round audit readiness by keeping documentation accurate and organized beyond audit periods.

Required Qualifications

- 1–2+ years of experience in audit support, accounting, finance, or financial operations.
- Proven ability to prepare or review financial documentation and reconciliations.
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Comfortable handling confidential financial information and working remotely during U.S. business hours.
- Demonstrated follow-up discipline and ability to investigate discrepancies thoroughly.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience supporting internal or external audit teams, including public accounting or corporate finance roles.
- Exposure to SOX, PCAOB requirements, GAAP, IFRS, and internal control frameworks like COSO or ISO.
- Experience preparing PBC schedules and responding directly to auditor requests.
- Opportunity to gain hands-on experience with financial controls and compliance in a fully remote environment.
- Cross-functional exposure across finance and business operations.
- Strong career progression potential into roles such as Senior Audit Associate, Internal Auditor, Staff or Senior Accountant, Financial Analyst, or Audit & Compliance positions.

Candidates will undergo a multi-step interview process, including an initial phone screen, video interview, practical task (such as account reconciliation or mock audit schedule), client interview with audit/finance leadership, and background verification. Qualified applicants will be invited to complete a one-way video interview to showcase their experience in audit support, accounting, reconciliations, and compliance.

This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy structured, detail-oriented financial work, thrive under deadlines, and take ownership of maintaining accurate, audit-ready documentation. If you are analytical, organized, and reliable, this position offers a valuable opportunity to build expertise in audit execution, internal controls, and financial compliance.
