We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with expertise in Java and Spring Boot to join our team in Karachi, offering remote or hybrid work options. This full-time role involves contributing to the development of a next-generation Supply Chain ERP platform designed to support complex enterprise operations through a modular, scalable, and maintainable architecture. The ideal candidate is passionate about clean code, thoughtful system design, secure application development, and addressing real-world business challenges. You will play a crucial role in building the ERP platform from the ground up, influencing architectural decisions, core business functionalities, and AI-powered workflows.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build a modular-monolith architecture with clear module boundaries and well-defined interfaces.
- Develop secure, scalable RESTful APIs and enterprise business workflows.
- Implement authentication, authorization, role-based access control (RBAC), and multi-tenant isolation.
- Design and optimize relational database schemas, SQL queries, indexes, and transactions.
- Write unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure software quality.
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, architects, QA engineers, and AI engineers.
- Integrate AI-powered capabilities into enterprise workflows through well-defined APIs.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Contribute to Docker-based development and deployment workflows.

Required Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in modern Java programming, including object-oriented principles, collections, generics, exception handling, and concurrency fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot for building production-grade backend applications.
- Practical knowledge of the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, Spring Security, and transaction management.
- Solid understanding of REST API design, including validation, versioning, error handling, and documentation.
- Proficient in SQL with experience working on relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.
- Familiarity with software architecture concepts such as layered architecture, modular design, SOLID principles, clean code practices, and design patterns.
- Understanding of security protocols and mechanisms including JWT, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, access control, and secure API development.
- Experience working with containerized applications using Docker.
