Backend Developer (Laravel)

PayOn is a forward-thinking company developing next-generation hospitality technology tailored for Pakistan's HoReCa industry. Our focus lies in digital ordering, payments, transaction management, and streamlining restaurant operations. We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer with strong expertise in Laravel to contribute to our SaaS platform, payment infrastructure, APIs, and third-party financial integrations. This role demands a high level of technical skill, especially for candidates familiar with FinTech, payment gateways, banking APIs, digital wallets, or transaction processing systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable backend systems using Laravel and PHP.
- Design and build secure REST APIs alongside third-party integrations.
- Manage payment and transaction workflows, ensuring seamless operation.
- Integrate various payment gateways, banking APIs, and financial services.
- Handle payment statuses, webhooks, refunds, reversals, and transaction reconciliation processes.
- Maintain database performance, security, and ensure data integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend, API, and transaction-related issues.
- Collaborate effectively with frontend developers, QA, DevOps, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in PHP and Laravel development.
- Deep understanding of Laravel architecture and RESTful API design.
- Proven experience with third-party API integrations.
- Strong skills in MySQL, including database design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
- Ability to debug, refactor, and enhance existing production code.
- Solid problem-solving abilities coupled with strong English communication skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of payment workflows such as webhooks, retries, refunds, reversals, and reconciliation.
- Knowledge of idempotency, transaction integrity, and methods to prevent duplicate transactions.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience working with payment gateways, banking APIs, digital wallets, merchant payments, or other FinTech systems is highly desirable.
- Understanding of transaction processing and financial service integrations will be a significant advantage.

- The position is full-time with working hours from 11 AM to 8 PM, Saturday and Sunday off.
- Compensation is KPI-based and performance-driven, reflecting your contributions and impact.
- A probation period of one month applies, with immediate joining preferred.
