Backend Developer (Laravel)

PayOn is a pioneering company focused on developing next-generation hospitality technology tailored for Pakistan's HoReCa industry. Our platform emphasizes digital ordering, payments, transaction management, and streamlined restaurant operations. We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer with strong expertise in Laravel to contribute to our SaaS platform, payment infrastructure, APIs, and third-party financial integrations. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, especially for candidates with backgrounds in FinTech, payment gateways, banking APIs, digital wallets, or transaction processing systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable backend systems using Laravel and PHP.
- Design and implement secure REST APIs and integrate third-party services.
- Build and manage payment and transaction workflows, ensuring robustness and reliability.
- Integrate with payment gateways, banking APIs, wallets, and other financial service providers.
- Manage payment statuses, webhooks, refunds, reversals, and transaction reconciliation processes.
- Optimize database performance, maintain security, and ensure data integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend, API, and transaction-related issues.
- Collaborate effectively with frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in PHP and Laravel development.
- Strong understanding of Laravel architecture and RESTful API design.
- Proven experience with third-party API integrations.
- Expertise in MySQL, including database design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Solid experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
- Ability to debug, refactor, and enhance existing production codebases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and proficient English communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience working with payment gateways, banking APIs, digital wallets, merchant payments, or other FinTech systems is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of payment workflows including webhooks, retries, refunds, reversals, and reconciliation processes.
