JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of a Bio-Medical Engineer is to ensure safe, reliable, effective, and efficient use and maintenance of hospital biomedical technology, supporting exceptional patient care.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, adjust, maintain, repair, or provide technical support for biomedical equipment.
- Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.
- Train clinicians and other personnel on the proper use of equipment.
- Design and develop medical diagnostic and clinical instrumentation, equipment, and procedures, utilizing the principles of engineering and bio-behavioral sciences.
- Analyze new medical procedures in order to forecast likely outcomes.
- Liaising with technicians and manufacturers to ensure the feasibility of a product in terms of design and economic viability.
- Liaising closely with other medical professionals, such as doctors and therapists as well as with end-users (patients and their attendants).
- Meeting with senior health service staff or other managers to exchange findings.
- Dealing with technical queries from hospitals and giving advice on new equipment.
- Testing and maintaining clinical equipment.
- Investigating safety-related incidents.
- Keep accurate inventory record.
- Report equipment failure and keep record of it.
- Check machine specification against purchase order.
- Any Other relevant task assigned by supervisor.
