SME Careers, a rapidly growing AI data services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, partners with leading AI labs to enhance how intelligent systems learn, reason, and act. As AI systems evolve, they increasingly depend on human expertise to interpret complex professional software environments. This role offers Blender 3D artists a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the advancement of world-class AI models by designing and demonstrating realistic Blender workflows that AI agents can learn from and be evaluated against.
Key Responsibilities
- Author production-realistic Blender tasks that reflect actual studio or client requests, such as low-poly modeling, retopology, UV mapping, shader and lighting setups, and scene assembly, all scoped to allow objective verification.
- Record expert demonstrations by preparing your environment with necessary files and add-ons, then executing tasks end-to-end using provided capture tools to produce comprehensive traces of actions, interface states, and file changes.
- Document workflows clearly and professionally, enabling other experts to follow and reproduce the steps taken.
- Define verification and success criteria for each task, specifying what the final output must achieve, intermediate milestones, and common errors that should not be credited, forming the rubric for scoring AI attempts.
- Create tasks covering a range of difficulty levels, from single-tool operations to complex, multi-step workflows involving multiple applications and asset management.
- Review and quality-check work submitted by others, ensuring task realism, recording completeness, accurate step-to-action mapping, and validity of success criteria, especially for those advancing into QA roles.
- Adhere to project quality standards by keeping recordings free of personal information, using only approved software, and relying solely on your own expertise without AI assistance, as the use of closed-source AI tools is prohibited.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience as a Blender-focused 3D artist in contract, studio, or freelance roles, or equivalent demonstrable practical experience.
- Proven proficiency in Blender production workflows, including modeling with clean topology, modifiers, UV unwrapping, materials and shading, lighting, and rendering using Cycles and/or EEVEE.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and explain issues such as bad topology, shading and normals problems, scale inconsistencies, and non-manifold geometry.
- Access to a computer running Windows 11, Ubuntu (X11), or macOS capable of comfortably running Blender alongside screen recording software; batches are assigned by operating system.
- English proficiency at minimum B2 level, with clear written communication skills to document workflows for expert reproduction.
- Ability to consistently apply detailed rubrics and make repeatable quality judgments across numerous similar tasks.
- Highly detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working asynchronously in a remote, flexible-hour contract environment.
- Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, evaluation, or benchmarking is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
This role offers paid, flexible remote work where your Blender expertise will directly influence how AI agents learn to use professional creative software. You will contribute to frontier agent training rather than generic labeling, with your demonstrations and success criteria serving as both training data and benchmarks. The position provides clear guidelines and structured reviews focused on practical 3D correctness. There are opportunities for progression into QA and QA lead roles, with ongoing batches available based on performance and availability.
Joining SME Careers means playing a vital role in shaping the future of AI by leveraging your Blender skills to create expert-level training data that helps AI agents perform complex creative tasks with professional accuracy.
