This role involves leading and managing daily branch operations to ensure smooth and efficient last-mile delivery services. The position requires overseeing all aspects of the branch, including dispatch, sorting, delivery routes, facility maintenance, and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, clearing backlogs, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily branch operations, including managing last-mile delivery processes and clearing any operational backlogs to meet performance targets.
- Oversee morning dispatch activities, inbound parcel sorting, and last-mile delivery routes to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Supervise and guide on-ground teams such as supervisors, sorters, riders, and couriers while promoting a safe and productive work environment.
- Ensure precise tracking of parcels from their arrival at the branch through to final delivery, maintaining high accuracy standards.
- Monitor delayed, undelivered, or returned parcels and develop targeted action plans to efficiently resolve pending backlogs.
- Identify causes of operational delays in sorting or routing and reallocate resources proactively to prevent backlog accumulation.
- Manage return processes and delivery re-attempts, collaborating with Delivery Exception Bureau (DEB) and Incident Resolution (IR) teams to address escalations.
- Oversee the physical upkeep of the branch, ensuring that the parcel sorting and staging areas remain clean, organized, and safe.
- Enforce loss prevention protocols, physical security measures, workplace safety guidelines, and adherence to company standards.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing branch or last-mile delivery operations within a logistics or courier environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate diverse teams effectively.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities to handle operational challenges and backlog clearance.
- Familiarity with parcel tracking systems and delivery management software.
- Ability to analyze operational data and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and security protocols relevant to logistics operations.
