Business Analyst (Remote)

The Business Analyst role focuses on supporting Finance and Accounting initiatives by gathering requirements, documenting processes, and analyzing data to improve reporting, reconciliation, and system functionality. This position demands strong business analysis fundamentals combined with advanced SQL and Excel skills. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Finance and IT teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis (Core):
- Gather and document business and functional requirements.
- Write user stories and acceptance criteria using Azure DevOps.
- Break down complex processes into actionable work items.
- Document workflows, ensuring requirements are clear and testable.
- Partner with stakeholders to validate and refine solutions.

Delivery:
- Support Agile delivery processes including backlog management, sprint planning, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Investigate and resolve data and system-related issues.
- Assist with Finance-related tickets and reporting requests to meet business needs.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, with a focus on Finance, Accounting, or financial data support.
- Strong understanding of Insurance business concepts.
- Proficient in requirements gathering, process mapping, and workflow analysis.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders and produce clear, testable requirements.
- Working knowledge of General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and financial reporting processes.
- Experience working within Agile frameworks and familiarity with Azure DevOps tools.
- Advanced skills in SQL and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and responsive to changing priorities.
- Ability to work aligned with Central Standard Time (CST) hours, at least until 12 PM CST.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is considered a plus.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate quality issues related to data collection, storage, processing, or usage to internal and external stakeholders.
