Business Planner & Strategist

Tier 1 Plan Writers LTD, a UK-based business plan consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Business Plan Writer to join our remote team on a freelance or part-time basis, with potential for ongoing collaboration. This role is distinct from conventional content writing, requiring a professional who combines strong business writing skills with commercial insight, strategic thinking, market research, and ideation. The successful candidate will contribute to projects involving startups and growth-stage companies, particularly innovative and technology-driven ventures targeting the UK market.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop professionally structured and commercially credible business plans tailored to client needs.
- Conduct thorough market, industry, and competitor research to inform strategic recommendations.
- Analyze and refine business models, revenue streams, and market positioning for clarity and viability.
- Participate actively in business ideation and concept refinement to enhance project outcomes.
- Identify weaknesses in initial business concepts and recommend strategic improvements.
- Assist in developing stronger value propositions, differentiation, and competitive advantages.
- Contribute to strategies related to product development, go-to-market approaches, monetization, and scalability.
- Translate complex or technical concepts into clear, commercially focused narratives.
- Develop marketing, sales, operational, and growth strategies that align with client goals.
- Support realistic sales assumptions and financial forecasting to underpin business plans.
- Critically review client information rather than simply incorporating it, ensuring accuracy and strategic alignment.
- Revise business plans based on internal strategic reviews and client feedback to ensure quality and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in business plan writing, consulting, strategy development, or commercial research.
- Excellent command of written English with the ability to produce clear, professional documents.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in conducting detailed online research.
- Ability to assess the commercial viability of business ideas independently.
- Solid understanding of business models, customer acquisition strategies, competitive positioning, and growth planning.
- Capability to identify gaps and propose practical, actionable solutions.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines consistently.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience working with UK startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
- Background in SaaS, AI, digital, or technology sectors is highly desirable.
- Experience in startup strategy, product ideation, or innovation consulting.
- Familiarity with preparing business plans for the Innovator Founder Visa.
- Understanding of innovation, scalability, viability, and defensibility concepts.
- Experience using UK and international market research sources.
